In Winter’s Bone, Ree Dolly has to take on many challenges for example: taking care of her younger brothers, looking after her ill mother, and needs to find her father before it’s too late. They both inspire people to follow in their footsteps. For Beowulf, it was Wiglaf and for Ree it’s her younger brothers. They show true characteristics of a hero throughout their stories and inspire those to do better to find the truth. They both have big hearts and put there own lives on the line to protect innocent people. Even though their in different situations, they both try hard to get what they need done. They show different characteristics when they're up against different things. Ree is up against the world of drug dealers and needs to find her father and then Beowulf is up against monsters and villains. In the end, Ree finds out the truth about her father and saves her family. For Beowulf, in the end, after he fights the dragon alongside Wiglaf, gets injured in battle and dies soon later. The word hero is best used to describe Ree Dolly and
