People often give others labels. Labeling someone is usually an attempt to predict what would a person be like later in their life based on observing their current characteristics. However, a repeated labeling to a person may be possible to come true whether the label is good or bad. According to William Isaac Thomas, Thomas Theorem states that “If men define situations as real, they are real in their consequences” (Keirns, Strayer, Griffiths, Cody-Rydzewski, Scaramuzzo, Sadler, Vyain, Bry, Jones). It means that the result of the situation depends not on the situation itself, but mainly on the person’s opinion about it. For instance, people around me such as my family and friends have told me many times that I’m good at drawing or sketching. I think they …show more content…
However, in my opinion, my drawings aren’t anything special at all. In fact, I envy other’s artworks most of the time because I believe that theirs are better than mine. These past years, I noticed a big difference in my attitude towards art. I feel like I gained more confidence in exploring, practicing, and mastering different types of art such as drawing, painting, and sculpting. Therefore, I agree with the Thomas Theorem because based on my experience, the label that was repeatedly given to me actually came true even if it wasn't originally part of my character.
Leaders are very important because our society needs them to lead and guide people. Every leader has different styles of leading other people in which some might have only one style of leadership while some have different styles in different situations. For instance, I tend to be a combination of democratic and authoritarian leader. Therefore, I like to have different styles and functions of leadership as situations changes.
