He served five years in this war. He was a machine gunman on the front lines of the army. He carried a BAR machine gun, and cleared out the enemy lines. William was a war hero, and an excellent role model for all other soldiers. The lines were set, and positioned. North Korea and America were on opposite sides of the battle field. The Americans charged fourth to invade the Korean defenses. Bombs dropped from overhead planes. Helicopters were flying above spraying at the American forces. William led his battalion across the battlefield of sand and tall grasses. Craters were in the ground as big as house foundations; from all the air artillery. William started attacking back with his own weapon, firing at the enemy’s side. As William and his battalion followed spraying at the Korean defense they grew closer to the enemy side. William and his battalion were now a quarter lengths away from the enemy walls, until a battery gun was met spraying the American forces. William then hid behind a wall of rock and shale on the battle field, looking for his last grenade. He finally found his grenade in his lower right pocket, pulling the pin then chucking it across to the battery gun. The explosive perished the gunman, and his surrounding men; opening the perfect path to take the fort. William and his men charged through their defense and made the Koreans surrender. Guns were dropped, and the battle was won, William a hero led his battalion to victory. That day the North Koreans lost that territory, and America pushed forward in the Korean
