When reading William Golding’s novel would you think he is pessimistic but, the plot twist in the end makes him hopeful. His view on humanity is that it is competitive, adaptive and hopeful. In the first few chapters of the book there is numerous signs of competitiveness. When the boys first arrive on the island Ralph decides that since there is no adults, there should still be rules. Right when the boys got on the island first thing they did was that they built a fire and found shelter and food. This is also the key points of surviving in the wildness. Not only were they able to adapt to the new environment they were in but, they made use of everything they found. In the book they collected sticks and carved them into spheres and used them for hunting and fishing. Another example was when they use Piggy's glasses to start the fire. Just like being one of the theological virtues. Having hope is something you can infer in humanity. No matter what happened the boys never lost hope. Well, some of them did not lose hope. Jack tried to make piggy and one of the little one come to realize that they were never going to get rescued from the Island. But, Ralph, the one that always have a positive vibe, never gave nor lost hope. At the end of the story, even though he was running for his life, he got he hoped for. He was facing his angel, a naval
