Have you ever just wanted to be done with homework? I know that almost every one of you has. I also want to be done with homework most of the time when I have friends that want to hang out or want to play a video game. I think that homework is outright stupid. Some of you like homework, and that's alright, but I personally do not like homework. Also, most of the time, the work is difficult and you barely even touched that topic in class. This can be a problem because some kids get really stressed and they know that the work is due the next day but they can’t finish it. Sometimes, if you are not a fast worker, homework gets in the way of family time and free time. Some families require free time and it is not an option, so some people can’t finish their homework. I am here to tell you why we shouldn’t have homework! Homework just gets rid of free time that you have to do fun stuff. If kids in didn’t have homework, there would be more time for playing and family time. I personally think that we should do all work in class. Some kids can get really stressed out, and having a topic of homework that you didn’t touch in class and that is due the next day can be very frustrating. Those kids that get really stressed can get really sad that they didn’t finish and cry, which gives them less time to do their work. “For a number of days in a row, when homework time approached in the evening, my son met it with resistance and frustration.” (www.handinhandparenting.org). Homework can be hard a lot of the time, but when it just piles up and you don’t know how to do it, it just makes it a whole lot

Robert Marzano states that too much homework harms students family time and could be detrimental to students mental health. I agree with Robert Marzano because when I get too much homework at school I tend to stay up late to finish the homework and then in the morning I am so tired I can barely get up and go to school. This proves that homework takes time away from the family and other outside of school activities. More evidence to support that homework takes time away from the family and other outside of school activities is that, “A large majority of kids lack at home resources to help them with their homework.” Says the article ‘Should schools be done with Homework?’.…

Fifteen million students in the United States high school system are faced with a growing epidemic that is creating large amounts of stress and is taking away from the education of students. On average, students in the educational system receive three hours or more per night and even more work over the weekends. However, the academic success fails to show any substantial direct correlation with homework. Many teachers give out assignments, not for the overall academic, but instead to create extra grades in the system. As a result of this educational issue, students have began to do their work in order to maintain grades instead of doing it to gain knowledge.…

Not a day goes by when I don’t hear my classmates, including myself, complain about the amount of homework that we receive. In response to the protests my teachers will often say that we’re supposed to spend two hours on homework for every hour spent in class, so we shouldn’t be surprised. If we were to follow that line of reasoning, we would end up spending twelve hours on homework a day, which is completely unrealistic; even spending half of that on homework is insane for one day. Although teachers are correct in saying that homework is a great learning tool, it only overwhelms students when assigned in excess--making it difficult to complete. Time is a subject constantly on everyone’s mind, especially for students with due dates for assignments, information to know by the test day, finals, applications to colleges, etc.…

As a whole, students are extremely aware of homework and its seemingly catastrophic effects on maintaining a social life. Any amount of homework, small or large, will take some amount of time; as kids, not many students want to take the time to do the homework at a minimal level, let alone to use it as a tool to practice and learn. This mindset appears to defeat the purpose of homework on all levels; if students are only doing it in order to get it over with and get a grade, is homework really beneficial or rather a waste of time for both the teacher who has to grade it and the student who is doing it? The challenge is to change the mindset of the students, to alter the perception of homework. I will argue that homework is beneficial to both…
