Truman and the United States hosted a United Nation Security Council to discuss about the problem at hand with the Korean peninsula. (UN Condemns 2) The meeting was hosted in America and was sent to the nations apart of the United Nations. At that time the USSR got an invite to attend, but on the day of no representative was sent from them. Against his advisors, Stalin did not want the Soviet Union to attend the meeting. Truman wanted to send troops over to help the South Koreans, at the same time had to be worried about a giant war with China and the Soviet Union. It was also brought up by Secretary of State Dean Acheson, during the meeting that the Korean peninsula has no benefits to the United Nations, Korea was not a part of the Asian Defense Perimeter. Truman finally won the council over when he brought up that point, that if the aggression by the USSR goes unchecked it might bring them to the idea of spreading communism to more countries. At first the United Nation Council only approved air and naval supports to South Korea. When it is shown that that won’t be enough they decided on more drastic measures. On June 27 1950, the United Nation Council unanimously decided for an invasion of North Korea. The council decided to send 5 million soldiers to Support the South Koreans. Under the leadership of General McArthur the United Nations prepared to defend South Korea at all cost, and prevent it from turning communist. (Operation UN
