Why Is Jem Finch Wrong

In the book “To Kill A Mockingbird” by Harper Lee, it teaches the readers to do the right thing even when the crowd might not follow. Atticus the father of Jem Finch and Jean Louise 'Scout' Finch. He is older then a lot of parents. His kids describe him as a lazy and lame but what they don’t know about him is that what they said is not accurate. Atticus shows that he does the right things even why people or himself don’t aggre. Atticus came a across a dog with rabies, himself did not want to take care of it but what we and his kids know that he was right for the job. “all of a sudden he just relaxed all over, an' it looked like that gun was a part of him . . . an' he did it so quick, like . . . I hafta aim for ten minutes 'fore I can hit somethin” (129) When his kids start to realize that he knows what he is doing. “ tapped his finger on his forehead above his left eye. “you were a little to the right, Mr Finch,”(127,128). He realized that it was about a blackmale. This is in the the early, middle nineteen hundreds which means black people don’t really have it that good. They don’t have rights ,they get missed treated and whites just don’t like them so they sometimes ruin or even kill them just because of their skin.Atticus knew this before he came in this case and the reason why he did this, even though he did not want to. It was the right thing to do. The case is over if the black male (Tom Robinson) raped a girl named Mayella Ewell. Reason why it is a big case is because a black male has been accused of doing this. Which means if convicted he will be killed. Not because state law because he is black. When the city finds out that Atticus will be helping Tom Robinson the city starts to react to that choice.
