Though for many, it is easy to say that many of us have a passion that we all pursue. I, too, have a hobby that dwindle upon as well. Up until my freshman year of highschool, I never quite been active until I joined cheer. Cheerleading although it is just a sport, it has taught me to overall a well rounded person. From school to my personal life, cheerleading has improved my ability to live a better life. For starters, cheerleading has taught me how to perform not only in front of crowds, but in a classroom environment as well. I was always that shy boy who never like to speak up in class, nor give presentations. I was always afraid of presentations because I feared making a mistake in front of a large group of strangers. Eventually after many performances in front of different crowds, cheer helped me build my confidence. And of course I messed up frequently, but cheer has taught me how to accept my mistakes and not dwell on them. Through cheer I was able to learn that failing is an option for greatness, performing in front of an audience creates courage, it is alright to rely on others, managing my own time and becoming an adult, all creating me to become a better person. As Nicholas Carr and Gerald Graff has taught me how to incorporate and connect my passion to my learning for academic success. Their lessons are carried through, which I was able to finally realize and it opened my eyes as to how successful I have become after cheer. Overall, if I were to realize this sooner, then I would have had a better chance at succeeding high school. It is not too late for others though, I would personally recommend that younger students read these two
