Why I Want To Be A Physical Therapist

My career goal is become a physical therapist. I want to have a concentration in sports therapy or to become a physical therapist for the military. I have always wanted have had this desire to help people and be in the medical field. Seeing how I become grossed out with large amounts of blood and cutting into people for surgeries, physical therapy seemed like the perfect fit for me. After graduating high school this year, my goal is to get accepted to East Carolina University, North Carolina State University, or University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I have already been accepted to Campbell University. My goal is do my undergraduate either at one of those universities. After my four years getting my undergrad degree in pre-physical therapy or in biology, I will go to graduate school either at East Carolina, Campbell or South Florida. During my summers in college, I will go and intern at the local physical therapy offices around my home, that way I can knock out my mandatory internship hours early. Once I have graduated college and obtained my Doctorate degree in physical therapy, I will work as a traveling physical therapist. After about 5 years, I will settle down in a town and open up my own practice if I choose to go with the sports therapy concentration. As of right now, the minimum requirement is a Bachelors degree and passing the state mandated exam. But by the year 2020, I will need to have my Doctorate degree as the minimum and passing the state board exam, proving that I have obtained the abilities to practice physical therapy on patients. After I get certified by the Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service (PTCAS), I can then choose which direction I can take my physical therapy degree, such as sports therapy or occupational
