1. What was the primary function of the commissioners? Who appointed the first commissioners and why? The primary function of the commissioners was to convince the other slave states to join them in secession.…
American Revolution leads to Civil War in America America, how we know it today, was not formed in one day, but was rather established through a series of events. Two of the greatest stepping stones in American history were the American Revolution, and the American Civil War. Although they were both two separate events, the Revolution lead to many events, such as the Constitution and the Articles of Confederation, that were primary causes of the American Civil War. The Revolution also caused many rebellions when Southerners were displeased after the Constitution had granted “equality for all”, including slaves. The South was also frustrated with their economic downfall, and their social differences between the Northern colonies.…
DBQ The Civil War wasn’t supposed to happen; however, conflicts between the North and the South elevated this urge for war. Without doubt, sectional conflict over slavery was the leading issue of the 1850 from the controversy over the Kansas-Nebraska Act, the Nullification Crisis, and John Brown’s raid at Harpers Ferry. Consequently, the Civil War was inevitable since “the result of extremism and failures of leadership on both sides of the conflicts.”…
The Civil War was a time of fighting for the continuation of the Union or the victory of being able to consider the Confederacy as independent. The war revolved around the enslavement of African American, seven southern slave states wanting to keep the policy of being able to keep slaves. These states -after declaring their secession from the United States- united themselves and organized the the Confederate States of America. The main reason the states separated themselves from the United States was because they were against the idea of blocking the expansion of slavery in the western territories.…
One of the central reasons that the Civil War began was because of the different views on slavery in the United States. During this time, slavery was legal and was a vital part of the southern life. On the other side, in the North, slavery was not as important and slaves had more freedom and were treated more like humans than in the South. Northerners believed that slavery was unconstitutional and called for…
Over 600,000 men died in the bloodiest war in United States history, the Civil War. Leading up to the Civil War, tensions were high between the North and South. Overall, the Civil War was caused by a combination of issues, such as the difference of the industrialized economy in the North, the agricultural economy of the South, and the morality of slavery, that divided the country during the mid 1800s. Furthermore, economics brought tensions to be higher than they were before.…

As I mentioned earlier, McPherson, in his book, attempts to figure out the motives of the men who fought in the civil war. What drove them to fight for as long and as viciously as they did. Over the course of the book he goes over some very reasonable and interesting motives that these soldiers had. One of the main things possessed by, both, the Union and the Confederacy was ideology. By ideology, McPherson means, that both opposing parties fought for liberty, the Confederacy that fought for liberty of Southern whites who believed they were being threatened by the rule of the North and the Union that fought for liberty given by their constitution which they believed was being threatened by Southern secession.…
The American Revolution necessary for independence and freedom according to the Americans. The reasons as to why they needed to leave the British empire was indeed necessary, but did it really fix anything for American? In my opinion “The American Revolution” was not very revolutionary for the U.S and the citizens. The U.S. was in debt, no rights changed for women and slaves, and U.S. was not united after the Revolution so nothing really changed for the Americans after the war.…
During the Civil War, conflict was at its peak. After four years of bloodshed, President Abraham Lincoln wanted to swiftly end the war. Lincoln ended the war by giving his famous Emancipation Proclamation speech, which freed slaves across the United States. The 13th amendment was later passed, officially signified the end of slavery. Since African Americans were now freed, they advocated for equal rights and the right to vote, which they got in the form of the 14th and 15th amendments.…
The cause of the American Civil War is very complicated, but mainly because of slavery.…
The civil war started in April 1861 when Southern states were trying to succeed from the nation following Abraham Lincoln election, and it ended in 1865 when the northerners (The Union) became victorious. However, the most important reason this war started is because Republican Abraham Lincoln won the election of 1860, and his beliefs about slavery were unlike from the southerners. His election brought so much controversy in the southern states that introduced the idea to go to a war in order to not be involved with his political ideas. However, after four years of war the country stay united, and the issue of slavery was…
Introduction The American Civil war occurred during the years 1861 – 1865, and as stated in the article titled “The Civil War”, it “was the cauldron that created modern America. The war preserved the Union, ending the possibility of the American nation dividing into two or more separate countries, in the process altering the nations politics and government, creating a strong presidency and an increasingly important federal infrastructure” (Finkelman sec. 1) However, the American Civil War did not come without coast, as wars never do, an estimated 620,000 men lost their lives in the line of duty. One of the many, yet major causes of this war, came about through slavery; and the standpoint that the northern states took, wanting to abolish slavery,…
Throughout the years many historians have argued over the some aspects of the civil war. One of the most important questions that the civil war creates is: was it inevitable? To find the answer to this question we must first state and analyze the causes of the civil war. In this research paper I will prove that the civil war was inevitable because the free states and the slave states would eventually break out in war since the problems between them would’ve never been solved if the war weren’t waged. Slavery is one of the main causes of the civil war, and although it seems as an exaggeration almost all other causes can relate back to slavery .…
He believed in the divine right of kings and the concept that kings should have absolute power and rule. Charles had countless quarrels with the MPs and eventually ordered its dissolution, however the advent of a rebellion forced him to recall the Parliament in 1640, though he never saw eye to eye with the MPs, and the lack of Parliaments contributed to a growing alienation between the leaders in the localities and the central government (Burns, 110). The relationship between the king and the Parliament began to deteriorate and eventually engendered the Civil War in 1642. Charles I lost the war and was prosecuted for declaring war on the Parliament and the people, sentencing him to death in 1649 for high treason, despite the fact that Charles insisted that the king could not be tried by any superior jurisdiction on earth (Jenkins,…
