2. In the 5th thesis, Luther demonstrates that the Pope neither has wants nor can cancel penalties except his own, merely because he is a human. In the 13th thesis, Luther expresses that all debts are to be forgiven when you parish, and that your debts will not be judged by the living. As people died, the church still wanted to be repaid. Luther argued the unfairness of this and indicated that God forgives people of their sins.
