The top two reasons a student in college flunks or drops out of classes are because they don’t have time management skills or they are not financially responsible. Luckily for me, I am very strict with myself in both of these categories, as I feel they share equal importance to a student’s life. During my college years it is crucial that I keep a close eye on my bank statements and maintain my time management effectively if I want to be included in the numbers of students who succeed. I am fortunate to be a candidate for financial aid that permits me to complete my education. Although, it doesn’t

It struck a chord deep within me because I was really lost and confused, not only that but also anxious, friendless, and afraid of all the responsibilities and of the possibility of failing. While my family assured me that these obstacles are the key element in becoming more responsible, and overcoming them will allow me to discover my strengths and weaknesses. I, on the other hand, felt like these obstacles were not character builders, but more like energy and time consumers that affected the academic performances and health of both my peers’ and myself. I strongly believe that fixing these problems should be one of the university’s priorities.…

Even though I applied for financial aid I was denied. I came to learn that the federal formula was weighted not only by income but also by assets. I’d attend classes during the early morning hours, late afternoons, evenings and weekends as long as it didn’t interfere with my work hours. When breaks came around, while some of my friends were off on vacation or volunteering in faraway countries, I worked extra hours.…

Entering my first semester of college I had blind faith in the University, and myself because I believe everything would just work out and I would pass because it was meant to be. However, fate and hope are no the things to help you life as a new college student.
