Laertes is considered a static character in the play. Laertes is considered this due to his “ balanced personality, and even give-and-take in relations with other people, honesty in following a particular rule in which he believes, not out of self-serving opportunism and conformity but out of genuine faith in general order and justice (Sadowski 101).” Laertes’ character is an exact example of what a static character is. An example of Laertes static personality is Laertes determination to celebrate ceremonies, rituals, and formalities correctly, and his anger when they are not performed in the right way.
