7) Temperature is what determines the amount of energy per unit on the surface of the star. A cool star will have low energy meaning if the star is very luminous then its surface area is large. If the surface area is large so is the radius. 8)…
Greg Showman pulls up to his new school. Hesitantly, steps outside and takes a huge breath in. The air is crisp, as it is a cool September day in the city of Fire and Ice Suns. The Fire and Ice Suns is the city of the fire and ice people, which hold many people including Greg Showman and his best friend Shelly. It is currently a time of peace and happiness within the city.…
Most Holy Lord Pluto, King of the Underworld. I invoke you to curse (maledictionem) the success of the charioteer on the far right side, called Scorpus of the Green faction, who is twenty seven years old and has acquired many wins he does not deserve. May you bind his body, his mind, his hands, his eyes, his courage, his nerves, his victory, and his legs, so that he may not be able to properly steer his chariot at the Royal Games tomorrow. May you also bind the body, mind, and legs of his horses, so that they are not able to react in the Hippodrome when they are supposed to overtake any other team. If they must collide, let it be with any team of the Red, White or Green factions, but let it not be with any of the Blue.…
“Oh, be a fine girl/guy kiss me,” or maybe not. Learning this phrase has helped multiple astronomers to educate themselves on the spectral classification of stars and continues to do so in today’s time. Annie Jump Cannon’s legacy will carry on lasting a lifetime! The first letters of each word in the phrase represents the seven main types of stars. Starting with ”‘O,” these stars are very young, blue, hot, massive and extremely bright star.…
What's your favorite candy bar? If it's not milky way then it will be by the end of this paper. Milky way is the best candy bar in the world! One reason that milky way is the best candy bar in the world is… that the caramel and chocolate is such a perfect mixture. The way the creamy texture of the chocolate and caramel mixing and melting when you bite into it is so delicious.…
Storm brought his empty plate into the kitchen. He stood by the sink and watched Penny out in the patio. She stood back listening to the conversation between her mother and father, Arnold, and the two plump astronomers from ANU. She nodded her head politely and no doubt about it, gave polite chuckles at just the right time while they chatted on and on with each other.…

What would you do if you were the god of all of the sea and freshwater? Also married to a woman who is the goddess of the salt water. “Neptune was the Roman god of the sea and freshwater. He is a piece of Poseidon the greek version of this god and was married to the goddess of salt water, Salacia and the child of Ops and Saturn. Neptune was the god of the sea and was a very powerful man.…
Scientists believe that stars are made of mostly gas, and this gas is made up of many atoms. In the star, the atoms in the gas bang into each other and give off different light depending on the type of atoms. This light from stars enables scientists to figure out the type and amount of atoms they are made of. Knowing the composition of the stars, we can guess how they were formed. Therefore we can see that stars are just atoms (hydrogen) hitting each other producing light.…
The Final Frontier Why is space called the final frontier? The reason why space should be called the final frontier is because past space there is nothing left to explore. I believe that space is the final frontier. Three main points that help with this are Galaxies what they are their shapes and what lies within them. Lifeforms off of earth what’s out there and are they friendly.…
Christopher Tran EAS 1601: Writing Assignment 1 13 October 2015 Why Giant-Planet Cores do not Spiral Towards their Parent Stars http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v520/n7545/full/520040a.html Why are gas giant planets of exoplanetary systems at a distance of at least one astronomical unit from their host stars? As we learned in class, the gas giants form by accreting and colliding with smaller solid bodies from the disk. According to Duncan, this process of accretion can occur relatively fast for gas giants and reach critical mass that is “about 10 Earth masses”, and begins to accrete surrounding gases. The problem with this accretion process is that the growing planetismal creates a “gravitational wake” in the disk so that it will result…
Pluto is the second closest dwarf planet to the sun and was at one point classified as the ninth planet. Pluto is the ninth planet from the Solar System. It’s nickname is Xena. Pluto’s origin of name is Plouton.…
Eventually, the star will run out of hydrogen fuel in its core and this fusion will stop. The star will then start to collapse, but before it is able to completely collapse, a new shell of hydrogen gets going. This causes to outer layer of the star to puff out into a red giant. If a star is large enough, it will be able to begin burning helium to carbon. One this fuel runs out and this new process stops though, the star has absolutely no fuel it is able to use, so it releases its outer layers, which reveals the hot carbon core: the leftover material resulting from this last fusion reaction.…
On July 14, 2015, the New Horizons space probe passed by Pluto and its five moons. This was an extraordinary discovery because for several decades, Pluto was just a speck in the sky. The New Horizons mission had been carried out for a little under decade and is the first spacecraft to fly past Pluto. Its main purpose is to observe Pluto and its five moons. It has a secondary mission and that is to explore the Kuiper Belt.…
The Little Wanderer Take my love, take my land, take me where I cannot stand. I don’t care, I’m still free, you can’t take Pluto from me. Probably the most debated planet, Pluto was discovered in 1905 by Percival Lowell with predictions calculated through the orbits of Uranus and Neptune. However, Pluto was officially seen and declared as a planet in 1930 by Clyde Tombaugh through a telescope (“Pluto Discovered.”). It has only been recently that we have discovered more about Pluto as the mission, New Horizons by NASA, just reached the planet.…
