Some actors wait their entire careers for a chance to win an Oscar, while some are lucky to win it early in their career. In the 1930’s the Academy had an Academy Juvenile Award, which was awarded to the best performance of an actor 18 or younger. The Youngest winner of this Award was 6 year old Shirley Temple. The Academy Juvenile Award was discontinued in the early 60’s, making children eligible for the main acting awards The Youngest Oscar winner to date is Tatum O’Neal, who managed to win Best Supporting Actress at the age of 10 for 1973’s Paper Moon, her very first role. Other notable young winners include Anna Paquin, 11, Patty Duke, 16, and Timothy Hutton, who at the age of 20, became the youngest Male winner of an Academy Award for
