If they are walking past a pond or a lake it would be considered a hazard to the child 's safety. The risk with this is that the child could fall in and inhale or swallow dirty water, the child could end up with an infection or possibly drowning. This would be a hazard from the physical environment. The children should wear appropriate footwear to ensure that they do not slip or trip. All routes should be assessed by staff before the trip out to ensure they take the safest route possible for the children. This would also be considered a risk to the staff member, however the risk would not be as great because an adult would be more aware of the risk that the water poses and would know to keep a safe distance away.

The adults will not be at as great of a risk of being kidnapped as the children, however dogs do pose the same risk to adults as they do children. Adults may be able to react to a dog running towards them faster and may be able to defend themselves better but the dog would still be able to cause harm. Other walkers also pose a security risk to adults. If the adult was preoccupied taking care of the child they may neglect their belongings and how much attention they pay to them, leaving them available to be stolen. If their possession were stolen, such as a hand bag the adult would not be able to chase after the thief as it would mean them having to leave the child on their own which would pose a greater risk to the child’s health, safety and
