In the United States, divorce rates have increased significantly during the last century. As of 2015, approximately fifty percent of married couples with children end up divorced. Studies have shown that living in divorced-parent situations can have a profound effect on a child’s ability to learn. Because of the absence of structure that is common in these situations, children may lack discipline, which can lead to negative outcomes all throughout their lives, especially when it comes to education.
