The rapidly growing rate of phone technology in our generation is most definitely disturbing. Texting has destroyed the way people read, write and even the way teens have conversations compared to older generations. The use of technology has enabled cyberbullying as well has taken a toll on relationships with not only friends but families too. It seems that anywhere you go you see people glued to their phones, fingers typing away on sidewalks, at school events, even at the crowded places. Majority of these people are considered teenagers.
Through studying, it’s interesting to see the effects that technology has influenced the way teens read and write. A teacher from Clay-Chalkville High School claim “Many high school students have become dependent on electronic spell-checkers. As a result, I spend a significant amount of time circling misspelled words on assignments” (Sutton). Teachers have first hand been frustrated with this issue because these bad habits are taking up time to relearn lessons teens have already been taught in younger years. The fact is, it’s important for teens in this generation, as well as future ages, make sure to not abuse this advance in technology.
