Many families cannot afford college which either causes the student to not attend a college, drop out of college, or become loaded with student loans. The rise of cost for college has rose rapidly in these past years. This has been caused by the lower funding for post secondary colleges from states all across the country. Although, even with the cost of college, “The college earnings premium seemingly far out distances college costs, yielding a high rate of return,” states Richard Vedder. Also, there are a lot of grants and financial aid that you can receive that helps aid the high cost of college. Even if you are worried about the quality of education, you will still receive a better quality than if you do not attend a college and only have a high school degree. There are some good points that do pop up against these statements. Others say that college isn’t for everyone. They claim that not everyone one is above average or even average. Not everyone is smart enough to go to a post secondary college and not all jobs need a college degree. If you want to have a job that doesn’t need a college degree, I think that is really the only reason it would be okay to not receive post secondary education but not being smart enough shouldn’t be an excuse. Yes, maybe you're not smart enough to get into a very good college or not smart enough to get a good amount of financial aid, but that doesn’t mean you give up on the whole idea of college. There is nothing wrong with community colleges, they still give you a post secondary degree that can lead to better jobs. Who knows, maybe you might be even able to transfer to a better college after two years of community
