Ways that I have encountered power, only occur when I was back in my hometown. People knew my face from the local newspaper, and had seen all my accomplishments and awards I had received. People knew I was smart, and that then led to them respecting me and my family in our community. I would hold different offices in high school, and I had so many connections with different teachers. These were the days when I had no worries, until I would go off to college.

She misread my initial comment about how Pence would do everything possible to get rid of planned parenthood, without realizing that a lot of women like myself need birth control for medical purposes, outside of its traditional use. She would then go on to say, well I can afford to pay for it out of pocket, it’s not that expensive. This was a typical response of someone who jumped to conclusions, just to include themselves in the topic of conversation.
