There are different theories discussing whether or not the escapees had survived such a historic event. This is because of the weather the night of the escape, the water of San Francisco Bay, and the overall construction of the raft that they took to escape from the Alcatraz. On June 11th, 1962 Frank Lee Morris, John William Anglin, and Clarence Anglin finally put plans in action for the greatest escape in history. (Alcatraz Escape, 2016) Despite all of that, those three are still being searched to this day. The case was finally closed after seventeen years. The FBI states that they had most likely drowned in the frigid waters of the bay, however the U.S. Marshals Service still has an active warrant out for their arrest. (Alcatraz Escape, 2016) The design of the rafts had taken great skill to make an honest attempt at making it off the island. They made a 6ft by 14ft raft out of fifty raincoats. (Alcatraz Escape, 2016) It is unknown still till this day what ever happened to those men it is still a great escape. Alcatraz was an island of evil that criminals became more insane off of it. The life that they were subjected to, the illegal testing, and just the overall experience of incarceration took the concept of crazy to a whole new level. Who knows what Whitey Bulger or Al Capone would have done had they not been sent to that
