hundred dollars for exploration of the trans-Mississippi west. This was approved on
February twenty eighth. President Jefferson hand chose Lewis for the exploration.
Lewis then hand chose Clark as his second in command. Lewis and Clark shared
command over a crew of forty solders, boatmen, hunters and a large dog. This
expedition was later more commonly known as the Corps of Discovery. Lewis was the

On this expedition, there were many instances in which Lewis, Clark, and their
fellow adventurers got stressed out. The camps that they stayed at were very cramped
and there was little to no privacy. This stress later effected the expedition by affecting
Lewis and Clark's decision making skills. This stressed caused conflict between not only
those on the expedition, but this stress also cause conflicts with the Indians that the
expedition encountered. Some if not most of their stress was due to the huge task they
