Ways Agnostids Live Analysis

Decent Essays
The reading material and lecture discuss several theories about ways that agnostids live. The writer presents several theories including free-swimming predators, seafloor dwellers and parasites. However, the professor put forward three reasons that directly contradict the theories and effectively prove that they are not persuadsive and somewhat inaccurate.

First of all, the writer suggests that agnostids can swim freely in the ocean. By contrast, in accordance with the professor, this veiw is not true. As animals which can swim fast in the ocean must possess a well developed eyes with good vision ability, agnostids only have tiny poor eyes and even seems blind. what's more, some other special organism can also help to swim, but it is not

Discussion The threespine sticklebacks’ (Gasterosteus aculeatus) ability in evolving help them achieve the greatest amount of fitness and success for the future year. The group used the variable predation and calcium concentration to understand the stickleback better. Before measuring the group made a primary and secondary hypothesis. The primary hypothesis concluded that rainbow trout predation acts as selective source on the spine size of three spine stickleback because the different sizes of spines will indicate the difficulty of eating that particular stickleback. The secondary hypothesis concluded that the spine size in threespine stickleback is affected by the calcium limitation in the environment because the bones require calcium to grow and strengthen. While the group was measuring, they saw that the predation for the tout was longer than 8’ which helped measuring the calcium concentration because the calcium forms the bones in organisms.…

In 1965, John Langdon Brooks and Stanley I. Dodson published one of the most significant ecological papers in recent ecological history that discussed the predation, body size, and composition of plankton in various environments. This paper focused mainly on six areas those being the following: the effect of a marine planktivore on lake plankton, changes in Crystal Lake Plankton, effects of predation by Alosa, size and food selectively, size-efficiency hypothesis, and size of coexisting congeners; a congener is an organism that belongs to the same genus. This paper largely focused on a concept or idea rather than an actual experiment that would have actual methods and results. The effect of a marine planktivore on lake plankton…

Something people do not always understand is the struggle marine biologists face in order to study animals who live in difficult to reach habitats. Yeti Crabs are a great example because of their extreme living conditions. In order to survive, they have to live next to a volcanic vent 2,200 meters beneath the surface and 900 miles south of Easter Island. If they stray too far from the hot water, they will freeze to death, but if they get too close to the vent, they will overheat and die. They are very mysterious creatures; they are blind, albino, and remotely related to lobsters and crabs.…

The reading states that the pollution hypothesis seemed the more likely cause for sea otter decline and provides three reasons of support. However, the professor states that predation hypothesis is the most likely cause of the sea otter decline and refutes each of the authors' reasons. First, the reading states that increasing in levels of chemicals could decrease the otters' resistance cause infections to life-threatening infections and death to sea otters. The professor opposes this point by saying that this point is weakened because people could not find dead sea otters on beaches.…
