OCE #1:”What`s Your Theme Song?”

What thoughts do you have when you hear someone saying “It is my song”? For me, the song is a cultivation of emotions that affects others people`s lives. The song can help people in difficult times: support them, give them hope and encourage striving for new achievements. A song is a reflection of a person’s inside. It is possible to understand someone`s thoughts and dreams, hopes, and values by knowing their musical preferences. A song is the most intimate thing that can be shared with any person in the world. “Blue County – Walk on Water” is the song for me. It is country music that was created in 2004 by two musicians, Aaron Benward, and Scott Reeves. It is full of supportive, encouraging and rousing inspirational words; that is why I can say “It is my song”.

This teaches me that if it is not possible to change the world, then it might be very helpful to change myself. When I start complaining about everything, some good parts of me tell me to stop acting like a senile old man and actually start with myself, as very often the reason of my fail is my actions. It gives me good food for thought and how funny it is or not almost every time there is a situation where I can say “Hmm… Actually, if I did this differently that might change the

Prompt: Describe a book, movie, song, or other work of art that has been significant to you since you were young and how its meaning has changed for you as you have grown. The one song that has continued have a significant impact on me throughout my life has been “Drift Away”, by Dobie Gray. At this point in my childhood, I didn't look for meaning in songs or in my surroundings because I still possessed a sense of childlike wonder. I still believed that everything was good and just, and I hadn't experienced true suffering preventing me from being able to sympathize with the raw emotion within the song.…

From a very young age, my mother and father taught me to do what makes me happy, and not to worry about anyone else. “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd embodies what I have been taught all my life. My mom used to sing this song when she was putting me to sleep, and ever since then, “Simple Man” has held a very special place in my heart. Iron Maiden first released “Run to the Hills” as a single in 1982, and Bruce Springsteen released “Born in the U.S.A” on the album of the same name in 1984. Both songs comment on aspects of America. Although they are seemingly unrelated, both Iron Maiden and Bruce Springsteen use their musical talents in each song to give an outlet for these issues to be heard. “Run to the Hills” by Iron Maiden is a song about the troubles between Native Americans and Europeans when the Europeans first arrived to the Americas all the way to the post-Civil-War United States. Lyrically, it describes all the atrocities done to the “redskins” such as the two seen in the line: “Raping the women and wasting the men.”…
