Canada achieves stunning victory
On April 1917 thousands of Brave Canadian soldiers successfully took Vimy Ridge on securing a tactical area for the allies. Both British and French failed to occupy the ridge with France suffering as much as 150:000 casualties. Hence Canadian forces were called in.
A British officer announced that he never believed that the Canadian forces were capable of something like this, Author curry who led Canadians into battle was the first Canadian to lead a regiment without British supervision. He ordered Canadian troops to dug shelters and tunnels to protect themselves from German turret fire. One soldier who fought in the front lines had this to say.
