Under the Influence of Video Games: The War on Violence
“Today 97% of teens in the U.S. play video games, and sales of games are growing. The domestic video game industry brings in nearly $12 billion a year. This popular form of media has both positive and negative effects on children” (Norcia). Games are one of the fastest growing industries in the world today. There are many forms of games such as console games, computer gaming and mobile gaming that children are playing all the time. More and more adolescents are playing games more often than they was ten years ago. This statistic show how games are a big part of everyday children 's lives. When this amount of people are playing video games on a daily basis society has to realize how big an influence games are

Extensive gaming can cause other problems than aggression. “Too much video game playing makes your kid socially isolated. Also, he may spend less time in other activities such as doing homework, reading, sports, and interacting with the family and friends” (“The Positive”). Kids get so addicted to games that all they look forward to is playing their games so they stay inside and play instead of being social with friends and family. Without being social kids do not learn how to act around other kids making them socially isolated and then they can get more aggravated and aggressive towards people they do not know. This isn 't the only thing that children lose by playing too many video games . "Academic achievement may be negatively related to over-all time spent playing video games. Studies have shown that the more time a kid spends playing video games, the poorer is his performance in school” (“The Positive”). Since more time is spent on video games rather than focusing on academics children 's grades suffer. adolescents are not as focused on their school work if they play too many video
