Video Games History

I will be describing video games. I am using the descriptive informational text in order to explain video games. This topic is significant to me because, videogames are a major part of my life and I enjoy videogames. Video games are a game played by manipulating images, from a computer program, in which the game is displayed on a screen. Much coding goes into making video games. Video games can be used for a leisurely or competitive activity. I preferably use it to pass time or just have fun with it, only some games I am competitive with. Video games are played on many systems and platforms, and many people enjoy video games. First, the origins of video games. In the 1950s, the first video game was documented but, video games did not become popular or played much until the introduction of pong. From then on, video games started to grow slowly and become more popular. Throughout the 70s and 90s many consoles came out and video games started to majorly spread, also the classic arcade games and arcades were popular as well. I could go into detail about the 8 generations of video games, but that would be too much information. During the late 70s to the 90s PC games now started to come out. Many classic games came out such as Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Space invaders, Asteroids, and much more. In our current day, there are many ways of playing video games and many consoles and there are many companies that produce video games and consoles. This brings us to how they are played and some examples of what they are played on. You can play video games on any console today as long as you meet it’s requirements. Some consoles require discs, cartridges, or you can download them on the console itself paying through via credit card or another way. Also, there are requirements for playing the video games themselves. Some are multiplayer which means multiple people play the game at the same time. This can require internet or wifi connection. Some present consoles are the playstation and xbox consoles both present and last generation are commonly found. What is probably the best decision and something that I wish I had was a gaming PC, it is the best at running any game, but a decent and good PC may cost 1,000 dollars or more. Of course you have to control the game you are playing some how. This can be done with a controller, in which most consoles come with, a mouse and keyboard, or whatever the controlling mechanism that the system has. Some companies that produce consoles are, Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, and much more. Of course, there is not only one type of video game. There are different genres. Of course there are single-player and multiplayer games. Some genres are, MOBAS which consist of three main lanes on a map, with four people on a team, and terrain between the three, the goal is to get into the enemy's base and destroy the required structure. …show more content…
Well, there are many reasons why people play videogames and why they are very important to them, just as much as they are important to me. Personally, I like a challenge so, I sometimes play very challenging strategic and teamwork coordinated games. Also, I just like to have fun with them, I love to speedrun games which means that you try to complete the game as fast as you can running through it really fast. Another very important one is that they are sometimes good stress relievers or help with sadness in some way. If I had just finished doing lots of homework or I am just caught up in a situation, video games sometimes help me with relieving that and they are very fun to me so, it makes me more happy. Other reasons may be that people like communicating with other people. Although I personally do not enjoy this because people can become quite mean over the internet, but some people only play with their friends from school or online because they find it fun with them. For some people and very few, it is a way of income to play video games. People can live stream or upload videos of themselves playing video games and it is possible to live with the money you make off of
