There are a lot of people getting sick, but not a lot of people that are dying. In Document A there is a chart that shows that 3,989 soldiers out of 8,000 soldiers were sick. About half of the soldiers were sick, but it is winter and a lot of people get sick around that time. Also in Document A the chart shows that only about 1,800 soldiers out of 12,000 soldiers died at Valley Forge. 1,800 soldiers out of 12,000 soldiers is only 15% of soldiers died. I would not quit if I had an 85% chance of surviving.
People care and want to help George Washington and his camp. In Document B, underneath the picture, it stated “congressmen stayed several weeks”. When the congressman stayed at Valley Forge for several weeks it showed the soldiers that people care …show more content…
In Document D it states “the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph”. The worse the war is the more exciting it will be when they win. In Document D “These are the times that try men's souls”. If you stay through rough times you are tough, but if you only come when times are good you would be a summer soldier. On Document D it says “The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country”. A summer soldier or a sunshine patriot is a soldier who only stay when times are good, but when times get worse the leave. I think the fight for freedom is worth it and I think being a summer soldier or a sunshine patriot would be embarrassing so I would stay at Valley
