Pros of getting vaccinated Vaccines save an incalculable number of lives each year. Most vaccines for children are 90-99% effective in preventing the targeted disease. According to United Nations Foundation partner organization vaccines save 2.5 million children from preventable diseases every year in America. That equates to roughly 285 children every hour. Many parents of children are concerned about ingredients within vaccines. However, the vast majority of experts agree that all elements of vaccines are safe in the amounts contained. Ingredients may include chemicals such as thimerosal, formaldehyde, and aluminum. These chemicals are harmful in large dozes, but only trace doses are held within vaccines.
