1. Why would you like to serve in VBS this summer? What qualifications do you possess that would benefit our camp? I would like to serve in VBS this summer due to my prior experience as a VBS camper. My experience as a VBS camper has motivated me to do better in school, academic wise and extra-curricular wise. The leaders at VBS have taught me the importance of giving back to the community and to the world. To this day, I still hold the belief in my heart. Also, I want to earn my 40 hours of community involvement for my Ontario Secondary School Diploma as I have a lot of spare time this summer, and that I can focus on the academics within the duration of high school. Volunteering earlier helps me prepare for high school as I want to continue volunteering in the school setting (such as applying for a student council position). In conclusion, serving in VBS this summer would mean the world to me, as I want to take a leadership role and to have an impact on children, like how the leaders who taught me positively affected me. I also want to earn my 40 hours of community involvement and prepare myself for high school. I am a leader who is positive, optimistic, visionary, and motivated. I am very determined, direct, and assertive. I speak out and advocate for those who do not have a voice. I am attentive and understand the importance of listening. I enjoy taking on initiative and opportunities. Not only am I a leader, but I am also a good team player. I can adapt to unfamiliar areas of work and I can react quickly. Riester immediately made me feel at home for his shorts introduction to Civil engineering. The school is different and unique with an outstanding reputation for its high-quality education in the Nation.…

Before addressing why Pitt is a good choice for me, I would like to review why I am a good choice for Pitt. The University of Pittsburgh values their “talented, diverse and high achieving students”, their “safe and healthy campuses”, their unique balance of “fun and camaraderie with internships and other learning opportunities outside the classroom”, and their focus on “developing students into global citizens” (University of Pittsburgh webpage, ‘Prospective Students’). I am a well-rounded student who places priority upon academics, as well as a broad array of performing arts extracurricular activities, over 300 hours of community service, several job experiences and religious organizations. Therefore, if admitted to The University of Pittsburgh, I would fit right in with the ardent and accomplished student body, just as I would benefit as a person and as…
