The first ideology is utilitarianism theory, which is widely used in ethics principle to make judge rightness or wrongness. Utilitarianism principles followers believe that “good reside in the promotion of happiness or the greatest net increase of pleasure over pain” (p.33). This principle focuses on the outcome of actions on another individual happiness and reducing surfing as much as possible. Utilitarianism wants me to report any action that harm and cause pain on others should be avoided to make a greatest happiness to the patient, family, and healthcare providers. As a nurse, each action should be documented and reported to manger or supervisor on the unit. In this case, the nurse did not try to prevent the error from happen again on another patent. For instance, if this nurse gives a wrong medications to the patient or incorrect patient identification for surgery procedure was noted, the patient could be in critical life situations which could lead to patient death or severe harm.
