This case was analyzed by a sociologist in the perspective of how Samuel received an unfair trying because of his past in the foster care system. With this source I will look at the case itself and the sociologist viewpoints to come to a better understanding of how these children are tried unfairly. Continuing, a case study done in the state of California collected a database of their current prisoners looking at the data of how many spent time in the foster care system. After that data was collected researchers continued by looking at how long they stayed in the system, did they attend juvenile courts, and what their crime history looked like. This will play a role in my paper by demonstrating the effects of judges making impulsive decisions about the placement and indictment of foster care children. However, there are specific groups of people who are affected by children receiving unfair trials more than others. With using a sense of general knowledge crime rates in inner cities is continually fluctuating. Most gang recruitment begins in prison, the common saying “prison changes ya man” is correct. Foster children in juvenile detention are more vulnerable to fall into gangs and violence because they are already under the misconception they are unloved. Thus, when they get out of juvenile detention they are more likely to go into a life of crime, gangs, and continue to their adult like doing the same which is why inner cities are affected by this most. Gang violence is at an all time high in places like Cleveland, Chicago, and all other major cities. Most importantly my audience will be the juvenile justice system and the Family & Children’s Services state departments. Children being treated like this have stemmed from a number of controversial problems that are not being addressed by these two branches of government. In my essay I will discuss how their decisions are ineffective towards the system and are just making problems worse.
