A person that does not have the ability to make decisions, especially in an emergency, will leave decision to the group and it’s the leaders of the group. Another thing is that the source of obedience involves the fact that a person comes to view themselves as the tool or apparatus for carrying out another person's needs, and they no longer see themselves as responsible for their actions being it is the wishes of another. Once this viewpoint has been set in an individual’s mind they will follow like sheep and a Shepard. The results are disturbing because we hope that humanity does not always choose something immoral or inherently evil. The results even surprised Milgram because he had hypothesized that very few or none of the teachers would use the maximum voltage, even the majority of the Yale University senior-year psychology majors had come to this conclusion. Sixty five percent of the participants used the maximum voltage, even though the majority asked questions and seemed uncomfortable and stressed when making the decision and committing the act. In the test there are defiantly situational forces that occur, for example the presence of an authority figure will dramatically increase obedience. This is common in everyday life from past to present and on into the future, one common incident that is compared to this experiment is the Nuremburg Trials because the men that were being tried for crimes against humanity would say in their defense that they knew it was wrong but they were just following orders. Even though this was not seen as a valid excuse because we as humans must see that a command from an authority figure is unethical and the orders should not be seen through. This is sort of true in Milgram’s experiment, the orders should have been seen as unethical by the participants and not
