Trump V. Clinton: The 2016 Presidential Election Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are names that will linger in history for many years to come due to their controversial plans if they get elected in the 2016 presidential election. Trump’s ambitious mindset with slogans such as “Make America Great Again” and Clinton 's bold stance on getting more rights for women have an abundance people either supporting or opposing many of their policies. They have many differentiating views on issues such as immigration, gun control, and national security that keep this election interesting. A great amount of americans are taken away with the bold statements both candidates are making regarding these issues. There are many different views when it comes to the issue of immigration. Trump is known for his idealistic vision to “Build A Wall” which many Americans are conflicted about. Trump states that we need to build a wall along the southern border to Mexico to keep all illegal immigrants out; he says that the laws that are set regarding illegal immigrants must be enforced. In order to serve the citizens of this nation’s best interest, Trump states that any laws put in motion must improve the lives of Americans by ensuring jobs, wages, and security. During a rally in New Hampshire, he said, “We want people to come into our country but they have to come into our country legally.” Clinton’s views on the matter regarding immigration are everything that Trump’s are not. Clinton mostly agrees with President Obama and wants to finish what he has started; she wants to embrace the equality of people who are entering the United States. Clinton believes that if the illegal immigrants are law abiding citizens and hard workers that they should be able to stay, and she wholeheartedly believes families should not be broken up and forced to go back to the country they abandoned. With that said, she also believes that people who are not going to follow the laws set for the citizens of the US should be deported. While sitting down with a group of students in Las Vegas, she said she wants to “fight for comprehensive immigration reform legislation with a path to full and equal citizenship.” When it comes to the 2nd Amendment, Trump and Clinton are just as divided as they are on the issue of immigration. Trump wants to protect our 2nd Amendment rights, and he says that he will not let the government take away our guns. In a position paper Trump stated, “The right of self-defense doesn 't stop at the end of your driveway. That 's why I have a concealed carry permit and why tens of millions of Americans do too. That permit should be valid in all 50 states.” Many americans believe that the reason the murder statistics are at an all time high is because it is an easy process to buy guns. With this said, Trump believes that enacting more laws prohibiting guns will only stop the law-abiding citizen from having them which leaves the criminals with all the guns and the law-abiding citizens defenseless. Hillary, on the other …show more content…
She does not want to put soldiers in deadly situations if not necessary, so she will do whatever she can to keep the United State’s from war. She wants to keep the alliances we have already formed and take on new challenges together. Hillary states on her website, “The most important job of the president is to keep Americans safe. That means standing up to aggressors around the world and defeating global terrorism by depriving ISIS of physical and virtual territory. I’ll dismantle the global terror networks that supply terrorists and toughen our defenses at home—against both external and homegrown threats.” These two presidential candidates seem to be either loved or hated (despised). With completely opposing views on most of the issues, it really is down to what Americans think is best for the country in the upcoming years. Both Trump and Hillary have the ability to motivate people to vote for them and their causes due to their direct mindsets. From the many conservatives supporting Trump to the abundance of women and minorities supporting Hillary, this election is predicted to be a very close
