According to SCR Amanda Hutton was not accepted as a white woman in Asian community (BSCB, 2013). Based on the number of children the couple had and duration of their marriage, the professionals working with the family probably assumed that she was accepted. Some of the children who attend my setting are mixed race and from this SCR I no longer assume that parents who are in interracial relationship are happily married. I also realise that there is no ‘typical’ profile for person who engage in harmful behaviour. In most reported cases of abuse, children are abused by parents, carers and other family members who live with the child. Nationally, safeguarding legislations and procedures that provide framework to support families and protect children.
