As proven, Mendel’s theory is still followed today rather than Lysenko’s. Mendel tested how the different characteristics of a seed can be crossbred and allows the outcome to have the strong genes of both parent’s and is able to reproduce at a higher rate. For example, “Mendel crossed a plant that produces a round seed with a plant which produces a curving, Y-shaped seed, and in each and every one of the resulting plants the seeds were round. In the next generation, however, in which only these round hybrid seeds were planted, 5,474 plants matured bearing round seeds, while 1,850 matured bearing curved seeds — a ratio of almost exactly 3:1. From this Mendel concluded that the round seed is a dominant trait, inherited from either parent, while the curved seed is a recessive trait, seen only when the dominant trait is absent in both parents.” Mendel was able to prove that genes are passed down through chromosomes Lysenko and his believers were able to convince the Russian people that they do not exist the Soviet state makes Lysenko’s ideology …show more content…
Trofim Lysenko was able to pull off one of the biggest acts of pseudoscience in his time. He was able to prove one theory and from there was able to convince states of government that his other theories were correct and this worked since Stalin was dictator. Overall, Lysenko’s theories were terrible but in the beginning of his work he was dedicated to science and tried his hard to create legitimate theories but eventually power ran to his
