Triggered Play Analysis

The play Triggered was the first play I have attended that was a dance musical. This play was something that I personally did not expect what it was going to be, but I understood how it related to our class introduction to life time physical fitness. The play essentially was all dancing no talking and that was unique. I assumed musical plays had some skits of singing and dance but only one piece included singing and dance. Each skit was unique because each had different subsets of different dancers. From what I witnessed each dance included a physical technique. An example the first performance skit appeared to require a skill in balance, speed, agility, and physical effort. Another skit included running, jogging, jumping, and flexibility. These athletic aesthetics and basics were taught in our class as well and are very relatable. Units this could possibly relate to in our class were the running jogging unit, yoga, and circuit workout unit. Each unit included some form of balance, speed, and agility and …show more content…
With previous knowledge of flexibility from class and the Zumba class it made me realize the level of difficulty of these performances. I noticed how at the end of several dance skits the performers were gasping for air like running or holding their calves because of the lactic acid buildup of standing on toes to much it looked very difficult. Overall dancing seems to be a great form of physical exercise and activity. I remember my parents would often watch the show Dancing With The Stars and during the show many of the “Stars” would lose tremendous amounts of weight just off dancing alone. With that in mind if you don’t like running or going to the gym dancing certainly seems to be a great form of exercise to

An eccentric actor and amateur detective, William Gillette, is shot and invites his friends to his mansion with a plan to catch the criminal. With small areas for improvement, AHSPA’s play is an enjoyable holiday show due to its superb acting, comedic relief, and music choices. I recently enjoyed the Frisco Community Theatre production of EVITA the musical. The message I took in while watching this play is follow your dreams no matter what. This message was perhaps very clear to the audience because the main character would not settle for anything less even though she was getting backlash for stealing the love interest of another character. The directors, actors, and designers were very distinguished in transporting us to where the story takes place.…

production took on the challenge of switching between dancing and the dialogue in one fluid motion splendidly. The vast majority of the play contained accentuated emotions followed and dancing. Some of the square dancing scenes seemed a bit rushed, but overall they executed in sync with each other. The constant dancing and tomfoolery allowed for comical relief and the audience to laugh. The musical not only displayed a pleasing soundtrack, it also had some hysterical moments.…

    Sure Thing Play Analysis

Working on a play like Sure Thing in the classroom would help developing actors learn the importance of timing and recognize how important it is to keep a scene moving if working on their improvisational skills. While this show was scripted(I think), it seemed as if it were an improvisational show and every time the bell was rung, the actors had to change the direction of the scene. To make the scene successful, the actors had to react quickly after the bell was rung, and stay focused. At times when there were many rings in a short amount of time it could have become distracting, so staying focused on your fellow actor and staying in character is vital to making the flow. As somewhat mentioned, one obstacle that can get in the way of the actor…

Jane Anderson’s The Reprimand and Michael Hollinger’s Naked Lunch both portray how men have power and dominance over women. In The Reprimand, the two ladies are discretely fighting over a man, their boss, but play it off as if they just don’t like each other and don’t work well with each other. In Naked Lunch, the ex boyfriend can’t handle that his ex girlfriend won’t eat meat anymore. Eventually he gets her to eat it. The two plays are different but alike.…

For my ethnographic project I went to see a play. Now, for most people, this is probably not out of the ordinary and it seems to be a cop out for a project that is supposed to take you out of your comfort zone and challenge your expectations of music. I felt it was too at first but, after reevaluating it, I realized that it 's actually more ground shaking than you 'd expect. I am an African American baptist Christian that was raised in gospel and contemporary Christian music. I have never been to a play before and the closest I 've been to something of that style is an opera when I was about ten years old.…

For this assignment I chose to watch the musical movie Rock of Ages. This movie is high energy and has fun and frisky choreography. With professional dancer Julianne Hough as our leading lady in the film it is tough not to get caught up in how the movement tells the story. After watching it I did realize there were several moments where they stopped dancing and that seemed to work for the story as well. From the start we get the urge to move with the opening song Paradise City.…

Music also has the ability to entrain the brain. Entrainment is the ability of the brain to synchronize the frequency of its brainwaves with external stimuli. While this can also include visual or tactile stimuli, auditory stimuli such as music can easily be used to induce different states in the brain. The five different brainwave frequencies, Gamma, Beta, Alpha, Theta, and Delta, correlate with different states of awareness. Potentially, by imbedding different frequencies in music, composers could create music that could intentionally alter their audiences' state of consciousness.…

When I went to the wonderful performance at Pierce College I experienced a whole new perspective on dancing. The concert had many types of students performing mixed dance projects of all types like solos and duets. There was an average size of one to eight dancers per project which made it the ideal size for the concert. I really enjoyed the creativity and effort put into this performance.…
