Daily I hear the words uttered “I hate school.” Although on some bad days I think the same thing, education remains a privilege that some people around the world do not have access to. Education is a gateway that allows me to take control of my own life and be consciously aware of what is going on around me. The right for me to have an education allows me take the reins of my own life. Choosing how I spend my day or live my life unrestrained demonstrates my free human will. Humans have the capacity to decide whether they want to succeed or fail. They also have the choice to live or die. An interesting fact is that humans are the only species with the capability to contemplate suicide. Thus demonstrating that in the end humans are completely in control of their life, contingent upon the choices they have made. Although controlling my own life stands as a part of freedom, it is also a heavy burden to carry from day to day. In places such as Pakistan, the third most dangerous country for women, women do not get the choice to do what they want. Rather they are ordered to behave and act a certain way by their male counterparts. Frequent acid attacks and honor killings on women and girls makes Pakistan an unsafe place for females. Living in fear on a daily basis is not freedom. Some lack the education to understand the way they are treated is not acceptable.
