Scout is the most courageous character in the novel because of how she can be there for her brother. Scout is always looking out for her older brother Jem. Every time Jem thinks of an idea that would get him in major trouble, Scout tries to stop him and if he does not listen she goes with him even if she is scared out of her mind. When she starts to grow up Atticus teaches her how to have the courage to walk away from a fight. It is hard to hold back when someone says something rude but, Scout thought of what Atticus said to her and held herself back. Scout says, “I drew a bead on him remembered what Atticus had said, Then dropped my fists and walked away” (Lee, 102). Scout has the courage to walk away from a fight. It takes courage and guts to hold back when confronted with a fight or argument.
