In the scenario, Jeff and the Greensboro Coliseum have a mutual benefit bailment. Jeff pays the Coliseum to store his car during the basketball tournament. Normally, under a mutual benefit bailment the bailee is responsible for the damages incurred while the property is being stored in their facility due to their negligence. You could argue that they were being negligent by not being aware of what was going on in the parking lot, didn’t stop the vandalism and therefore are responsible for the damage done to Jeff’s car.
