Thomas Paine
:Thomas Paine was born on January 29th 1737 in Thetford England in the United kingdom however though would later greatly influence American independence.
:Despite gaining critical acclaim In the United States for his writings he failed school, his father’s line of work, and ended up being a mediocre tax collector. He had nearly no success in life while he lived in England.
:Thomas Paine was able to get to America through pure coincidence when he ran into Benjamin Franklin in London, who gave him the opportunity to do so. He later arrived in Philadelphia on November 30, 1774 and became a full time writer.

:Before the American revolution colonists had been revolting against Britain's taxes, many felt that these taxes were unfair and unjustified which caused many to become angry. Anger lingered around in the air during that time which could have influenced Thomas Paine.
: Thomas Paine must have seen unjust rule when he lived in England and now because he was in America, and there were a few massacres and battles against Britain, he became motivated to write “Common Sense”.

:Thomas Paine’s audience primarily was comprised of patriots, colonists, angry colonists, political figures, and monarchs. Many of these people saw the British as unfair, cruel, and oppressive.
