It is widely accepted that we spend too much time on our phones and other technological devices. Our lives are so controlled by technology that it is hard to imagine our lives without its convenience. However, one has to wonder if the entertainment factor has overtaken the convenience and helpfulness factor that drives technology innovation and makes it so appealing. These are the types of questions that co-producers Sander van Dijk and Max Stossel, who also appears as the lead actor and writer, ask in their short film This Panda is Dancing.

Being a college student and a millennial I can personally relate to the binge watching sessions that Stossel directly refers to in the short film, especially when he comments that he needs sleep but continuing watching the Netflix show seems more important. Innocently sitting down to watch one episode can almost unknowingly turn into a full on binge session when it is six hours later and you are still clicking that 'continue watching' button and procrastinating everything that you told yourself you were going to do. Visually, Stossel is walking against the flow of people on their phones as he talks about the tech world and what could be better, as we see pop-up images of what people are doing on their phones, that is until he is stopped himself and immersed by a video of a panda dancing. That entertainment factor which catches us all, and suddenly he is with the flow of the others. That visual is so powerful as it literally shows him being different than the rest, which is what he is suggesting future technology innovators do. Audibly the way in which Stossel speaks is like listening to something written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, making it current and catchy to the ear. You notice what he is saying because of the style in which he says it, a creative way to get the message to resonate but also make people really
