The Backfield Package by Thomas J. Dygard is a fiction sports story about a football team that has a chance to win the Rend Lake Conference championship in back to back seasons. The story mainly focuses on four players Joe Mitchell the quarterback, Tracy Jackson a wide receiver, Coley Brewster a running back, and Lew Preston the fullback and where these players will decide to go to college to play football at. The time that this story goes on is unknown, but I would assume that the time is sometime in the nineties or pretty close to there. The story takes place though in southern Illinois at a small high school named Hillcrest High.…

This is what many consider the turning point in the series. He then scored on an RBI single by Bill Mueller, which sent the game to extra innings. The game would remained tied until the 12th inning, when David Ortiz hit a game winning 2-run homerun to save the Red Sox season and force a game 5. Ole Miss kicked off the match with the serve but lost the point due to Alabama’s leading hitter Krystal Rivers’ kill(0-1). The Rebel’s star hitter Lexi Thompson was able to send the ball right back to get the kill for Ole Miss, initiating some momentum for the Rebels (1-1). However Krystal Rivers defended her team with a fiery kill (6-4), and then an ace to follow (6-5). Both teams held their own sending over hard hit balls. It wasn’t until Kate Gibson’s top-spin serve caused Alabama to send over a free ball, in which Thompson was able…

Similar to the way in which ‘The Warburton Controversy’ was responded to by the media and the public, the controversial treatment of the highly acclaimed Aboriginal artist, Albert Namatjira, highlighted the need for reform. Albert had attained celebrity status, was elected as an honorary member of the Royal Art society of NSW, presented to Queen Elizabeth during her visit to Australia in 1954 and was declared by Aboriginal activist, Charles Perkins, as ‘definitely the beginning of a recognition of Aboriginal people by white Australia’. Yet Albert was not even allowed to own land or build his own home. Public outrage at Albert's predicament led to him and his wife being the first Aborigines to be granted Australian citizenship in 1957. This…

Gabe Henderson, wide receiver for the Louisiana High School football team, has had two concussions while in high school. Football accounts for 64-76% of all high school sport affiliated concussions. On average, one in every five high school athletes will suffer from a concussion this year. Gabe’s 2015 football season was cut short when he became one of these unfortunate student athletes.…

Ten seconds left in the championship game, Hannahville inbounds the ball, and I steal it. Three, two, one, I have a wide open layup, and I choke. Preparing for the championship game was a struggle, physically and mentally. We all put in hard work, and were determined to win.…
I do not believe that it is a good idea for corporations to be involved in such controversial political issues. It is tempting to take a stand on political issues but things can go south very fast. For example, Ben & Jerry’s supported the Occupy Wall Street movement openly and proudly and it was going well for the company until few months later when a dispute rose up between Ben Cohen, co-founder of Ben & Jerry’s, and some activists over a van that was donated by the big corporation. “He’s a 1 percenter telling the 99 percent, ‘I’m your boss,’” one activist said about Ben Cohen.…
