Theme Of Just Lather That's All

Everyone is faced with conflict multiples times in their lives. The conflict may be created by a peer or an enemy based on what they believe in, which may cause disagreement, giving them the urge to kill. In Hernando Tellez, “Just Lather That’s All,” the barber does not believe in Captain Torres's actions which causes conflict between the two of them. The barber gets pushed to the limit throughout the story by the Captain causing him to make a risky decision leading him to think about killing Captain Torres. Captain Torres with grievous acts based on his beliefs creates conflicts with the barber throughout the story.
Many conflicts in “Just Lather, That’s All” dealt with Captain Torres. He [Torres] was a very demanding man and was frightful

He was always pushing the barber to his limits. After the Captain was done explaining how he brought back some rebels he added yet another comment, “The town must have learned a lesson from what we did the other day.” Captain Torres knowing that the barber wanted to kill him just kept egging him on, knowing the barber would do nothing. The barber held his composure by saying a simple, “Yes.” He was trying so hard to hold his composure because he didn’t want to lose his character. The barber finished the Captains shave professional without any conflicts. He [barber] said to himself, “You came to me for a shave. And I perform my work honorably…” That shows how great of a character the barber is. Even though he had the opportunity to kill Captain Torres he held his composure. Captain Torres was impressed with his shave and how the barber held is composure show professional especially since the barber didn’t agree with his (Torres) actions. The captain said to the barber, “They told me that you’d kill me. I came to find out. But killing isn’t easy. You can take my word for it. And headed down the street.” The Captain was often seemed like a person who had no feelings, but in reality he didn’t want to be the killer. Captain Torres didn’t agree with his actions and was actually a softy.
To conclude Captain Torres and the barber had there differences throughout the story but for the most part they both held their composure. The barber himself held composure through the whole story even though Captain Torres was begging for a fight. He [barber] had conflict through the whole story with the Torres based on his killing decision. Captain Torres often added smart comments just to get the barber going but luckily he [Torres] was not successful. Conflict is a part of life and can get pretty intense in certain situations, but as long as we hold composure all will turn out well in the
