This play will be put on a stage. This will not be a completely normal stage, it will be on

a thrust type stage. I like this kind of state, because it is interesting and not a boring normal stage

where the audience just site right in front of the stage.

There will be a curtain in between each act/scene, to allow out backstage members to

change the background of the scene. I think that this stage type will be perfect audience. Out

backstage crew will have 60 seconds to change the background in between scenes. That should

be long enough to get the job done, and not bore the audience.

In between scenes, the curtains will close, and the backstage crew will rush out on to the

stage, and move all of the backgrounds and props around,

I don't think that this should be at a high school,

because I don't think mostly just young people should see this play. I think st all people of all

ages should see this. I don't just want younger people putting their inputs, I want to know what

all different people thought of it of all ages. We will need many set pieces, we will need a bed,

mobile walls on wheels with different backgrounds, and a bathroom door.

We will also need Costumes, and a plant. I think that a plant is defiantly an important part

of this play. The plant is a big part of the movie, it is with the family in the beginning, and is with

them in the end, as they move out. and the book.

Costumes

What the characters wear in the play can definitely have a big impact on the mood of not

only the character, but also the mood of the whole play. Each character will have to have a

different outfit, making that character unique. Walter will wear nice business wear. He will wear

black shoes, black dress pants, a white shirt, a black dress jacket, and a normal red tie. He will

wear this outfit, because he is a businessman with a

Mama is the head of the house, she is the head of the household. She is older, and also

doesn't work. She will wear black pants, normal black shoes, and a fuzzy purple shirt. She is also

a religious person, and will wear a silver necklace of a cross.

Beneatha is Mama's daughter, and the sister of Walter. She will dress nice, because she is a

college student, and thriving to be a doctor. She will wear nice black shoes, black dress pants,

and a grey dress shirt.

Casting Choices

Jimmy Hendrickson, my father will play Walter, my dad is white, but still is very similar

to Walter, he is a business man, and also argues a lot, but in a good way. Jennifer Hendrickson,

my mother will play Ruth, my mom is similar to her, she helps provide for the family, and is very

good at winning arguments. Isaac Hendrickson will play Travis, they both are just normal kids,

and they each share qualities.

My aunt, Jan Hendrickson will play Mama, they are both older, unmarried, and have

similar qualities of being head of the family. I would have Ms. Jackson play Beneatha, she

doesn't have the same personality exactly, but I think that she would be a great actor for

The comical personalities all the characters had helped the audience become more intrigued in the story of this play. From this play, I liked that there was only one actor for each character. For the role of Eunice, I chose Coach Bieste from “Glee.” One of the main similarities I see between the two is that they both take the physical abuse from their significant others. In one scene, Steve and Eunice get into an argument and Stanley abuses her. After Steve realizes what he did, he begs for forgiveness from Eunice and she just forgives him just like that, despite the pain he had caused her. In Coach Bieste’s situation, she is in an abusive relationship and yet she decides not to let anyone know about it, She keeps it to herself and yet she still loves her husband.…

Broadway: Cinderella During the Columbia’s weekend, I got the chance to go to the New York City with my friend. We went to the Broadway Theater to see Cinderella, a musical with music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. As we all known, Cinderella is one of the Disney princess stories from our childhood; however, the musical version of Cinderella has slightly changed from the original story. When you walked into the theater, you just feel you will ever want to go out there. The theater decorated likes a royal castle, with gorgeous long stairs, crystal lights, and fancy couches.…

George and Asagai’s characters have many differences, including their backgrounds, attitudes towards education, expectations of women, and views of African culture, and these differences are the reasons why Beneatha accepted Asagai and rejected George. George Murchinson is a wealthy African American man who is dating Beneatha at the beginning of the play. Asagai is a Nigerian man who is in love with Beneatha, and they bond over their interests about Africa. The men’s first contrast is in their views towards education. Scenery, lighting, sound, and costumes are just a few of the theatrical elements that stood out and shaped the live performance of The Penelopiad, written by Margaret Atwood and performed by students in the Department of Theater and Film at Bowling Green State University. The play is narrated in Hades by the main character, Penelope who is haunted by twelve maids. The story line is centered around Penelope’s relationship with her parents, her marriage to Odysseus, dealing with life during the war, and the upbringing of her son Telemachus. Furthermore, the theatrical elements of this performance echo some of the important conventions that we have discussed in class. Occurrence of Different Dreams and Ultimate Lessons How was look like when the Lorraine Hansberry 's play, A Raisin in the Sun, is written? At that time, from the abolition of black slavery, African Americans could have freedom differently from the past. However, the liberty existed on the only surface. As the reader can find in the play, there were many cases that the African American families that are not different from other normal white families have pain in racial prejudice and discrimination. Even if they had same right on the surface of society, they still had invisible wall that separates their social position and status.…

In her play, “A Raisin in the Sun,” Lorraine Hansberry projects several conflicts that African Americans faced in the 1950s through her characters. These conflicts include the pressure to either assimilate to the current American standards or to maintain African tradition, the urge to make money to get one’s family out of the ghetto, the need to lead one’s family, and the tough decisions to be made to support and protect the family. Hansberry openly addresses the fact that there was a serious racial issue at the time acting as an obstacle in the family’s dream of leaving the ghetto to start a new, better life in Clybourne Park. By sharing this play, Lorraine Hansberry makes a driven statement that blacks can achieve their dreams, but that…

Mama is the mother of Walter and Beneatha, and acts as our racial stereotype of the mammy. She is the caregiver of the family and suits that role, but how Mama strays away from the mammy role is with her double consciousness. Hansberry writes Mamas stage directions to portray her double consciousness, “Still ignoring him and leaning on the table and changing to more comfortable shoes.” This illustrates her double consciousness because she has just come home from buying a house in a white neighborhood, dressed up to fit in to avoid the racism and show them that she can be like them even though she is black, but once she gets home she transitions into herself again (1542). Although Mama is the caregiver, she is independent and does what she thinks is going to best suit her future generations.…
