People say that good things always come in pairs, but what about bad things too? My parents, sister and I decided to visit Cedar Point during what I like to call a dark fall. The days were hazy and honeyed, and cinnamon and pomegranate aroma filled the air. The skies were always awake and illuminated with the never-ending thunderstorms, and murky rains; the scattered leaves were luminescent in their yellows, reds, and purples as if they forgot they were about to die. That day was not quite Halloween but felt like it with the long chills in the air and the orb like sun disguised behind the clouds. The only difference was that the sun would sometimes forget that its job for the year was finished and would emerge as if to check on things. I was only eleven at the time, still a child but quite stubborn to admit so. That day it seemed like nothing could go wrong, but my older sister, Nour, and I, all on our own, proved that to be different.

The first room of the haunted house was murky with a few flickering lights, Victorian looking furniture, and many cobwebs and spiders littering the corners and edges of the walls. It smelled somewhat off, as if something has been rotting there for years. Its mood and scenery sent chills running through me. This was the moment I realized that I have made a mistake, I was petrified of scary movies yet here I was about to enter a haunted house and experience all the scares in real life. The alarming realization left me unknowing of whether I should tell my sister and ruin all the fun, or to suck it up.
