The war on drugs was going out of control and the president wanted to make stop to it. President Nixon wanted to end the war on drugs, on the street, so he increased military, but the amount of drugs on the streets was decreasing. Drugs is an issue in the society, but the normal police department with their tactics and weapons, can solve this conflict. Nixon needed to find patients, because once military started being a part of it riots were created. For example, innocent people were being killed by police in raids over drugs, sometimes they were not a part of the situation. (P128) The main argument is Richard wanted military involved in society to protect from the drugs on the streets, other than trusting the tactics of the police department. We need to learn that that this society is our society and not our enemy. Also we need to do a better job in being patient, and learn how to control our community.
