This virtue is intellectual humility which simply means to attempt to see ourselves as who we really are. These people have an “honest appraisal of the capacities and limitations of our minds against the standard of an all-knowing indefinitely intelligent and always true God”(Dow 71). Intellectual humble people value truth over their egos’ need to be right and they become free to admit their limitations. They also are able to understand the world in a way that arrogant people are incapable of doing.
Chapter eight talks about the benefits of more about more. A person with intellectual character will have an increase in knowledge, which when used morally, will produce positive changes in their lives. Another benefit of knowing more is that it will lead a person to have more insight and creative solutions to problems. Step one is to keep our eye on the prize. Step two is for us to cultivate a love for truth. Step three is to us to honestly evaluate our own thinking habits. Step four is about us acknowledging our need for personal change and to create a plan for us to change. Step five is for us to map out our time and use it wisely.
