You think you will marry your significant other. You spend summers together talking about your future, you cannot wait for all the children you are going to have and how you are going to raise them. Things change and suddenly the future you imagined is unattainable. What happened in your relationship for it to get to that point? Relationships can be difficult and there are many different aspects, but by communicating and learning about the other person involved, a relationship can thrive. Jealousy can be defined as an aversive response that occurs because of a partner’s real, imagine, or likely involvement with a third person. When someone in a relationship becomes jealous, it often times can lead to a falling out within the relationship; trust is lost and the relationship is not always the same as it was before. Jealousy can even end in violence, which is often initiated by a male. Extradyadic involvement is sexual or romantic relationships outside of a primary relationship. The different kinds of extradyadic involvement is where there is sexual but not emotional involvement, sexual and emotional, and emotional but not sexual. It does not matter which type of involvement someone partakes in, it can completely destroy a relationship. As a child, my best friend’s parents were an inspiration to me and how I wanted my future marriage to turn out.
