After researching and comparing four theories, similarities begin to emerge and create an intertwined picture of childhood. Each of the theorist developing their own thoughts about how they perceive child development, hoping to explain to people with actual knowledge the patterns of children’s emotional, cognitive, physical and social growth. Starting at the first stage (birth to 1 year), Erickson, Piaget, and Fraud all grasp at the idea of oral stimulation as a way for the emerging child to join the outside world. Infants coming into this world are hopeless mammals that depend on loving adults to care for them. “Attachments are theorized to serve an evolutionary purpose because they increase the likelihood that the caregivers will protect and care for the infant.” (Salkind, 2006) Children grow rapidly during this stage of their lives, doubling in size and doctors …show more content…
In a first grade class, conflict is almost inevitable as students are still struggling with the idea of problem solving. Children will often take an object from another child without permission and the child will run to the teacher for help. This child does not have the right problem solving skills. Teachers need to use these situation as a productive time to teach and use a skit to illustrate the appropriate way to hand the issue. Teacher can teach older children to use different strategies for problem solving, one that works well in schools is to rock it out. The game of rock, paper, scissors is use to determine a winner when students are conflicted with situation where someone is first or two kids want the same item. Teaching different problem solving techniques actually allows student many different options to address the problems on their own. As the children mature their capability to think and problem solving shift from a logical thinking to logic thinking with a common sense
